Here is a guest post from Kayla at Community Matters about two great opportunities for residents to save energy and have warmer homes.
In December 2012, Brighton & Hove City Council, working with partners Communities Matter, Brighton and Hove 10:10, The Green Building Partnership and Low Carbon Trust, successfully secured government funding to run two projects in Brighton & Hove to offer residents the opportunity to reduce their energy bills.
- Your Warm Home (which is open until 31 March 2013)
- Green Deal Pioneer Places (which is open until next Monday, 11th February).
Your Warm Home
Sixty households in Brighton & Hove will have the chance to receive free energy improvements to their homes to make them warmer to live in and less expensive to heat. The Your Warm Home scheme will provide free measures, such as new boilers, draught-proofing, insulation and heating system upgrades, to residents who find it hard to pay their energy bills and keep their homes warm. Any private tenants or homeowners, who are more than 60 years old, have a disability or long-term health conditions or are a low-income family, can apply to take part in Your Warm Home.
To apply to take part in the Your Warm Home scheme or propose people who would benefit from it, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Ollie Pendered at Communities Matter on 07870 689978, or me, Kayla Ente on 07786507818.
Green Deal Pioneer Places
Brighton & Hove City Council is offering 100 Brighton & Hove householders a free Green Deal home energy assessment — worth up to £150. This no-obligation assessment will identify improvements that could reduce energy use in your home and estimate how much you could save on gas and electricity bills if you had them installed.
But that’s not all. Once you’ve had your assessment, you could then be one of 10 lucky Brighton & Hove residents chosen to have up to £10,000-worth of energy efficiency improvements installed in their homes — absolutely free! This could include measures such as new boilers, wall and loft insulation, secondary glazing and draught-proofing.
If you want to take part in Green Deal Pioneer Places and be in the mix for up to £10,000-worth of home-energy improvements or just want to have a free Green Deal assessment, please fill in the Green Deal Pioneer Places application form by 11 February 2013. We’d like applications to be made online, but if you are unable to complete the online form please call 01273 411143 or email email@example.com
Both schemes are open to private tenants and homeowners, and you must be a Brighton & Hove resident to take part.
